It is now possible to travel from London to Rye in just over an hour, thanks to the high-speed rail link collecting London St Pancras (STP) with Ashford International (AFK) in just 38 minutes. From there, Rye is then a scenic 23-minute train journey. There are 2 trains from STP to AFK every hour; please check the current timetable for best connecting times from Ashford to Rye. Returning, there is an hourly service from Rye back to Ashford, to connect with onward trains to London. Again, we advise you to check current timetable and platform numbers at your time of travel. The train station is an 8-minute walk to the Hope Anchor.

Take M25 (anticlockwise) to Junction 5, then M26 (signposted Maidstone) to M20. Leave M20 at Junction 10 and take A2070 signed to Lydd and Brenzett. Follow A2070 to Brookland roundabout (Total petrol station) junction, then take A259 (straight on) signed to Rye and Hastings. This road continues onto Rye.

Take Junction 3 onto the M20. Continue as per instructions to Rye as above (M25 anticlockwise)

3) FROM A2/M2
Take A2 out of London, leading onto M2. Leave M2 at Junction 3 and take A229 to join M20 at Junction 6. Continue down M20 leaving at Junction 10. Continue as per instructions to Rye as above (M25 anticlockwise).

4) FROM M25
Take Junction 5 off the M25 down the A21 (signposted Sevenoaks and Hastings). At Flimwell, turn left onto the A268 (signposted to Hawkhurst). This road continues onto Rye.

Once you reach Rye, take the one-way system through Rye into Cinque Ports Street. Follow this around for approx 520 yds as it turns into East Street. After 120yds turn left onto Church Square. You will find the Hope Anchor 320 yds on your right.

As we are an old building in the middle of a historic town, there is no on-site parking at the Hope Anchor. However, there are a number of pay and display car parks nearby as well as local on-street public parking spaces.

The closest car park to the Hope Anchor is The Strand car park (TN31 7DB) which is a 3-minute walk (back up a moderate hill!). This is a good place to park when you arrive. If you then wish to move to a less expensive car park, the Station car park is only a few minutes’ further walk.
